Operations Associate – Flatbed Trucking

Job Summary:
Join the daily operations team of a nationwide flatbed trucking company. As an Operations Associate, you will play a key role in coordinating freight movements, communicating with drivers and customers, and ensuring efficient, profitable transportation solutions. This position requires strong critical thinking, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate daily communications with drivers, terminals, customers, and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Monitor load status and provide real-time updates within the operating system.
  • Maximize equipment utilization and load capacity while meeting customer requirements.
  • Guide, support, motivate, and evaluate driver performance to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with drivers, customers, terminals, and internal departments.
  • Enter and update load information while prioritizing freight coverage and dispatch activities.
  • Communicate operational changes, service issues, and other critical information to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Assist in resolving transportation issues quickly and professionally to minimize service disruptions.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional education is a plus).
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Dependable with a proven work history.
  • Ability to work a 10-hour shift (including a one-hour lunch break).
  • Willingness to cross-train and support multiple operational functions.
 
 
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or customer service.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced operations environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing tasks.
